Heritage Hunt Club - Gainesville, Virginia

In 2009, Phase I work began on the upper level of the two story structure. The construction and FF&E budget was not to exceed $800,000. The proposed spaces included the Entry Lobby, Ballroom, Billiard Room, Card Room, Library, and restrooms. In total, about 7500 SF of space.

As design inspiration, the Team pitched a story about a wealthy, well traveled, “Plantation Owner” who shipped found treasures to his Virginia home. The resulting décor is a mix of European and American style furnishings with pieces reflecting a worldly education. Quality antiques and reproductions were commissioned using hand crafted methods. Fabrics were selected to reflect a mix of textures and patterns.

The biggest improvement can be found in the ballroom. The room’s poor illumination and acoustics was a constant problem. The Team selected new large scale chandeliers for more illumination while sconces were installed on antique mirrors for soft reflective lighting. Custom upholstered panels were added to provide acoustical and decorative details to the space. A multi layered paint scheme was incorporated to highlight the existing architecture.

Artwork and accessories were chosen to convey a sense of Heritage. The Team found antique equestrian hunting prints, maps as well as historical scenes reflecting the Civil War battles from the neighboring area of Manassas.

Adaptive Reuse & Historic Renovation,  2006

Founded in 1928, Congressional Country Club has been the site of five previous USGA Championships including the 1964 and 1997 US Opens. The Blue Course  at Congressional has been selected as the site of the 2011 US Open Championship and will host the US Amateur in 2009.

In preparation for these events, a major renovation to the entry level was completed in 2005. Dario, in conjunction with Ferry Hayes & Allen Designers, returned the building to its original character. The scope outlined removing 1970's modern updates and improving the Club’s use of social and dining areas.

In the late 1990's the membership realized they were quickly outgrowing their current facilities, and approved a Long Range Master Plan renovation to re-contour the golf course and update the fitness and clubhouse amenities. The golf course was re-designed by Arthur Hill and the work was completed in October of 200 3.

In 2004, Dario, in conjunction with Ferry Hayes & Allen Designers, completed the expansion and renovation of the recreational facilities - adding tennis courts, a weight room, aerobics training studios and modernizing the locker rooms.

The clubhouse work was completed in 2005. Undergoing a major transformation, it doubled in size. The exterior was transformed from a 1970's design into a Middleburg Country manor found in Virginia. Dining amenities were located to take advantage of the golf course views. A well appointed living room was added - as a gathering space for members. The locker rooms and sports amenities were updated and expanded to meet the growing membership requirements.
